Maygaagle Nomadic Development Project started in 2009
The project’s goal is to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable
groups (women and children, widows, single parents) of the local
community.
The direct objectives of the project are:
- To promote peace and gender equality.
- To renovate and equip the village schools.
- To establish an education program and curriculum which are relevant
to the nomadic lifestyle. - To recruit and train local teachers and other project staff.
- To renovate water wells and water ponds to secure the access for
drinking water. - To introduce to the crop farming combination with livestock farming
- in order to create an alternative livelihood.
- Project activities and results 2009
- NDO has built and fully equipped 2 class rooms in a Maygaagle village
school. - Two toilets have been built in the school (1 for girls and one for
boys). - NDO provided employment for three teachers, one teacher assistant,
project coordinator and guard. - 68 students registered for the elementary school and 32 adults for
informal education in the evening classes
